Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi
Disney+’s launch of the limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi paid plenty homage to the long-standing iconic franchise. For this publicity campaign, I led my team through the complex event which comprised of a PR event for media friends who were huge Star Wars fans as well as a public art installation by Very Small Exhibition that marked Singapore red and blue.
During the PR event, we hosted media friends for a screening of the first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi on premiere day at the Asian Civilizations Museum, complete with a lightsaber performance and lightsaber wielding masterclass from fan group FightSaber. The event refreshments were aptly themed with Star Wars inspired canapes, and custom made drinks with local bar GudSht.
Thereafter, the team arranged for chauffeurs to transport our guests to Jellicoe Road where two HDB flats’ staircase corridors were illuminated in red and blue to signify the light and dark sides, complete with lightsaber fun at the void decks.
In the lead up to the event, my team worked closely with the client to seize media opportunities for this visual event and landed the event on broadsheet newspapers The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao. We also executed extensive research on top tier local social media influencers to maximise our success in earned coverage which we succeeded from the likes of JianHao Tan.
